Amazing art. Love the book!

I am not usually the type of person that would buy a book to look at all the pictures. I am a techie and my art is computer motherboards. I thought this book was going to have more information on the jewelry. I have never had a Lark book so didn't know the reference. I have to say that this book is beautiful and I really like it. I just keep looking through it and never seem to get tired of trying to figure out what the artist must have been thinking to create the pieces in the book. Although it wasn't what I needed, it is a keeper.

Bought one for myself and loved the variety of pendants and necklaces. Bought another as a Christmas gift. She loved it

I bought this book for my grandmother, who is a jewelry-smith now that she is retired. I also do some metalsmithing, although nothing like her. We both loved this book! It was beautiful and interesting and had lots of neat and inspirational ideas. My grandmother in particular liked that all the materials were listed for every item. She did complain, however, that fewer pieces than expected were traditional metalwork. Personally I thought the use of so many new materials to be quite interesting. The biggest drawback I found was that all of the pieces were very modern or contemporary in style, which, given the title, is to be expected.Overall, a great idea book, with beautiful pictures and useful descriptions.

We spent a 2 week house exchange there and had opportunity to check out all of the island.It made our stay very memorable

It is very good for planing the trip, but non to follow word by word as places which get signed in the guide tend to rise prices(so you should chose hotels by browsing in the internet)

I bought this book because the reviews about Rough Guide were pretty bad, and I must say Lonely Planet delivered once again. It's full of "local" tips that must have taken the author a very long time to put together.A few more mini-maps would save dozens of lines of directions to reach those hidden places, and would save the reader a lot of time on the road.We would also have done with a few more places to stay and eat, but locals are so welcoming that it was a joy to ask them.These shortcoming anyway don't even erode one star, as the guide is otherwise exceptional. We didn't need anything else.

My boyfriend and I just got back from our trip to Sardinia. The Lonely Planet was helpful with some general information, but it was a bit dated (the new edition comes out May 2006 though). It did have a really good section on the food in Sardinia which mentally prepared us for a homecooked farewell dinner of baby goat! :) All in all, having the book was much better than nothing, but I'd recommend taking another guide book along to cross reference (which we did) or wait for the 2006 edition.
